Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions Health and Medical Conditions We abide by sector specific charters to demonstrate good practice when grooming your dog. Procedures within the grooming environment can be stressful for some dogs, especially for senior, young, overweight dogs or those with medical concerns. The process may expose unknown medical conditions or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. In the best interest of your pet this agreement will give Pampooch permission to seek emergency veterinary treatment if we deem it necessary. We will do the best to contact you first, before taking your pet for treatment, however this may not always be feasible. It is agreed that all expenses for Veterinary care will be covered by the pet’s owner, unless we are deemed to be negligent. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions you are expressly agreeing to the following disclaimer: Elderly, Infirm, Overweight or Young Dogs Disclaimer A full groom can take in-excess of 3 hours and is physically demanding as well as stressful for some animals. Whilst Pampooch make every effort to provide additional support to elderly/infirm/overweight and young dogs we cannot guarantee that your dog will be able to adequately support themselves for the duration of the groom which may result in serious health risks. There is also an increased risk of other injuries such as cuts and grazes. Pampooch reserve the right to stop the grooming process at any time with payment in full being due on collection of your dog. Vaccinations By using our services, owners confirm that their dog is up to date with their annual vaccinations against Canine Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, and Canine Parvovirus. An unvaccinated dog may put itself and others at risk. Pampooch takes no responsibility for any dog that may contract any of the aforementioned diseases. If your dog has not been vaccinated or their previous vaccination is out of date please leave 14 days from the date of vaccination and their appointment date. We regret that we are unable to groom puppies until 2 weeks after their 2nd vaccination. Pampooch may ask for proof of vaccination and veterinary information which must be provided. Fleas & Ticks Pampooch is proud to be a tick/flea free environment. If your dog is known to have a parasitic infestation, we ask that your grooming appointment is rescheduled to a time when your pet has completed the appropriate course of treatment and is free from infestation. 48 hours’ notice must be provided to avoid a cancelation charge. We recommend that you contact your vet to provide you with the appropriate treatment. If fleas are found on your dog, we will be required to do additional disinfection of our premises and equipment to ensure proper bio security, as such an additional £15 will be charged to your bill. Coat Condition Pampooch practice ethics over aesthetics. If we are presented with a matted coat and believe, in our professional opinion, it is kinder to remove the coat than it is to de-mat this will be done in accordance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006. Whilst we will make every effort to identify this as part of the pre-groom consultation and coat assessment there may be occasions where the degree of matting cannot be fully identified until we commence the groom. The need to remove matted hair is a necessity. When a coat becomes tangled beyond the ability to brush or comb through it the most humane method is to shave off the matted hair. Shaving may seem severe, but it is the fastest and least stressful way to groom a matted pet. In the event that this is required Pampooch will contact you and you will be required to sign our de-matting consent form, prior to your dog being shaved. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions you are expressly agreeing to the following De-Matting disclaimer: De-Matting Disclaimer Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal: – this includes prolonged ‘de-matting’ which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the dog. If you bring in your dog with more than 15 minutes of de-matting work, we are required by the Act to clip your dog short humanely or refer you to your vet to do the same. We will only attempt to de-matt 5% of a dog – which equates to about 50p sized mat behind each ear, same size in the armpits and perhaps one or two in the groin or tail area. If we have assessed your dog’s coat and found it to be matted beyond repair, your dog will need to be shaved. This can be prevented by daily brushing with a slicker brush and comb. We will be happy to explain the correct way to brush your dog and suggest a grooming programme that will allow us to achieve the look you would like for your dog, this may involve more frequent visits to our salon and will certainly involve daily grooming at home. When a dog’s coat becomes matted, it causes discomfort as the matts pull tightly on the skin and underlying health conditions may not be visible. When a matted coat is clipped short, it may occasional reveal sore, reddened and irritated skin, this is due to the fact that the skin has not been able to breathe, and air circulation is not restored. The process of de-matting increases the risk of injury including, but not limited to, cuts and grazes, skin irritations caused by the shortness of the clipper blades that will be used as well as possible haematomas. In addition, you may see some behavioural changes such as head shaking, excessive scratching, licking and “scooting”. This is where the dog will scrape their back end on the floor to alleviate itching and irritations. Should you have any concerns you should seek advice from your usual vet. Additional charges may be incurred due to the wear on equipment, additional products used, as well as time and skill needed to remove matting. We do not accept liability for any other effects following the treatment of a matted dog. This can include irritation, redness or nicks. Your permission will be required to shave off a matted coat should this be necessary, you’ll be asked to sign our Clipping/Matting Policy prior to your dog being clipped. Requests for mats to be combed out will be refused if it will cause the dog undue stress or pain. Behavioral Charges Aggression Owners have the obligation to inform Pampooch of any known aggressive behaviour traits their pet may have to other animals or humans, Owners MUST inform us if your dog bites, has bitten or is aggressive to people, other pets or during specific grooming procedures, specifically, the owner must inform Pampooch if they have been advised by pervious groomer(s) of any of the aforementioned behaviours. Nervous/Anxious Dogs Although Pampooch caters to dogs with nervous traits, owners have the obligation to inform us of any such behaviours in order for us to cater to their needs to the best of our ability. Behavioural charges will be decided by Pampooch depending on the severity of the behaviour and the time, skill, and equipment required to groom the dog. In the interest of staff safety, We reserve the right to muzzle your dog if it represents a danger to any other dog or any person. Any dog that shows aggression to people or other dogs will not be accepted for grooming. Please let us know beforehand if your dog has behavioural problems. If your dog should bite you agree to be responsible for all related medical bills, loss of earnings and equipment damage. We reserve the right to refuse service if we believe your dog may become a danger to itself or those within the salon. In the event any of these behaviours present during the groom the session may be stopped at any time and the full fee incurred. Accidents There is always the possibility an accident could occur in a grooming environment even when exercising great caution and care, this is due to the use of sharp grooming equipment. Possible problems that could occur include cuts, nicks, scratches and quickening of the nails. In most cases this can happen when a dog is attempting to move around during their groom. We make every effort to ensure your dog is groomed as safely as possible, but if your dog does not accept the process it can be dangerous to continue the groom. Toileting Please toilet your dog before attending their appointment. Fouling in the salon may result in additional charges. Time Keeping At Pampooch, we operate a strictly by appointment policy. Our appointment slots are timed and given for admitting the dog to our salon and finishing times are flexible to ensure we are not rushing to complete your dog. The grooming process takes as long as the dog requires it to take. Our estimated finishing times are a guideline and open to change. We expect to admit you at your given appointment time, if you are early we may not be able to grant immediate access and would ask that you wait until your appointment time. Likewise, if you are more than 15 minutes late we may have to refuse your groom on welfare grounds as rushing the groom may lead to unnecessary stress and possible injury. A fee equal to the cost of the groom will be incurred. If you are more than 15 minutes late collecting your dog a late collection charges will be incurred. Pricing All Prices Assume a Reasonable Condition and Temperament. Additional charges will apply for the extra time and products involved in grooming neglected coats, in-particular those which require clipping off due to severe matting and for dogs whose temperament or health also requires more time to complete. Any prices provided are an estimate only. Additional charges may be incurred due to: • Overweight dogs or oversized for the breed • Unkept/neglected coats • Aggressive, senior, nervous or timid dogs that require additional handling • Fleas and/or ticks • Dogs that require additional handling/breaks for whatever reason Cancellations We require 48 hours’ notice for cancelled appointments or the full grooming charge will apply and must be paid in full before re-booking. Late Pick Up Fees You will be advised or phoned what time to collect your pet, please can you arrange for your dog to be collected with a 15 minute window of this time. We do not have the facilities for a dog sitting service, as dogs may become restless after their grooms and may distract other dogs during their appointments. A small charge may be added for early drop of or late pickups Services Pregnant, In Season, Nursing Bitches Pampooch are unable to groom pregnant, in season or nursing bitches and will not provide services for any dogs noted under the Dangerous Dogs Act. Should your Bitch be in season during the time of a pre-booked appointment 48 hours’ notice must be provided to avoid the cancellation charge noted above. Anal Glands Pampooch does not perform anal gland expression as part of any service offering. It is our belief that this process should only be performed by a veterinary professional, and only when medically necessary. We believe that anal gland expression should not be a recurring procedure applied to a healthy animal, as serious consequences can result. Ear Plucking Pampooch does not perform ear plucking as part of our service offering, removing the hair can irritate the delicate skin of ear canals and lead to ear problems. Plucking the hair from a dog`s ear canal leaves minute openings, tiny wounds in the skin where bacteria can settle more easily, as such it is our belief that this process should only be performed by a veterinary professional, and only when medically necessary.
